"La Vie En Rose" is a captivating biopic of Edith Piaf, the French singer, and it serves as the opening film of the Berlin Film Festival. The film, a joint production between France, England, and the Czech Republic, stars French actress Marion Cotillard, Sylvie Testud, and Gérard Depardieu. Filled with enchanting Edith Piaf music, the film runs for 140 minutes, allowing the audience to be swept away by its melodies.

The story begins with a concert scene in New York in 1959, featuring Edith Piaf (Marion Cotillard). The film primarily focuses on her life in her 40s. Born in 1915, Piaf traveled extensively from a young age due to her father's work in the circus. During those years, she earned money by singing on the streets alongside her closest friend Mômone (Sylvie Testud). It was during this time that she was discovered by Leplée (Gérard Depardieu), the owner of a cabaret, who quickly introduced her to influential circles that would eventually make her famous.

Cotillard, known for her role in "A Very Long Engagement," skillfully portrays Piaf from her youth until her death at the age of 47. The film vividly portrays how her early illness and addictions transformed her into a woman much older than her years, causing her to lose the ability to walk, speak, and sing by the time she was only 40.

The film also delves into Piaf's great love affair with the boxing champion Marcel Cedan (Jean-Pierre Martins), who tragically died in a plane crash in 1949.
